About Us
The Mike Rudert Group® is the marketing umbrella for two companies with one goal: to improve your life by helping you create the perfect shop-from planning to installation and maintenance.
History
The group has come a long way since its 1978 beginning in Michael and Ramona Rudert's Salt Lake City apartment. Incorporating in 1981 as Professional Automotive Equipment, Inc, the company sent its small sales staff to six western states in search of customers. It soon established a core of customers, many of whom remain loyal today. In 1985 the company opened an office and warehouse location in South Salt Lake, but moved its expanded operation to Davis County in 1992.
With the proliferation of products and competitors in its niche market, the company understood the need for a business strategy to set it apart from other equipment sellers. The company's new plan emphasized turnkey project capabilites for customers who were building or expanding a shop. As a commercial general contractor, Professional Automotive Equipment offers shop planning, subcontractor management, code compliance and energy saving strategies.
BoothSource, Inc. was formed in early 2000 to give special attention to the growing industrial and automotive paint booth market. Together, the two companies offer "cradle to grave" stewardship of customers, from shop concept to equipment purchasing to repair and maintenance services.
Executive Profiles
Michael Rudert began his career in the automotive repair industry during his post-high school years by working in a Salt Lake City service station. While in college, he was part owner of a dune buggy building and Volkswagen repair shop.
After earning a bachelor's degree in psychology in 1973 and briefly pursuing a career in real estate development, Mike returned to the automotive business as the regional service representative for Bear Manufacturing. In 1976, he was hired by Intermountain Equipment Sales Co., first as a technician and later as an outside salesman. Two years later, he took advantage of an offer to buy out a small distributor of frame and unibody straightening equipment, which later was incorporated as Professional Automotive Equipment, Inc.
Mike is respected not only as an equipment salesman, but also as a creator of customized equipment and shop designs. In addition, he makes presentations to groups of fire marshals and building inspectors to enhance understanding of paint booth products and installations. An avid sports car enthusiast in his spare time, Mike restores and races older Porsches.
Ramona Rudert has been a co-owner and corporate officer for the past 40 years. She earned a B.A. from the University of Utah. She is the former senior vice president of operations at the Salt Lake Area Chamber of Commerce and founding Executive Director of the Women's Business Center at the Salt Lake Chamber.
Ramona has served on the boards of the Assistance League of Salt Lake City, Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, Salt Lake Chamber and National Association of Women Business Owners Salt Lake Chapter. She participated in the 1995 White House Conference on Small Business. Awards include the NAWBO Utah Woman Business Owner of the Year and the Athena Businesswoman of the Year Award.
